Mariann Meier Wang Partner Mariann
Meier Wang joined the firm in 2003. Her practice focuses on civil
rights, including First Amendment, prisoners’ rights, police
misconduct, and employment discrimination matters, and on commercial
litigation, including contract and tort disputes. Ms. Wang joined the
firm after practicing civil and human rights law and commercial
litigation for six years, and clerking for the Hon. Sterling Johnson,
Jr. in the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Wang previously worked at the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, where she litigated federal and state constitutional challenges to laws restricting reproductive rights. At the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison she did commercial work such as trademark, contract, and employment litigation, and undertook pro bono work on a variety of cases, including by representing lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered youth in New York's child welfare system for discriminatory treatment and harassment. Ms. Wang also worked for two years at Interights, an international human rights group based in London, where she directed the strategic programs on equality/anti-discrimination and free expression, litigating and advising on cases involving human rights abuses in international and domestic courts. Ms. Wang worked as an intern at the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, the Urban Justice Center, Harlem Legal Services, and the Legal Aid Society’s Immigration Law Unit. Education Columbia
