Emery Celli Brinckerhoff & Abady LLP

Personal Injury

The Firm is committed to protecting individuals and families against unsafe products, negligent conduct and gross malfeasance by private actors and governmental entities. We have represented individuals and estates in state and federal court actions as well as pre-litigation negotiations.

  • We represent 32 family members in a historic lawsuit against Libya for the 1989 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. This action, which was brought under federal anti-terrorism law and state tort law, resulted in the unprecedented recovery of at least $8 million per family.

  • We represent the family and estate of Jodie Lane, who was electrocuted in the East Village of New York City while walking her dogs by a metal plate on a service box that was improperly maintained. This wrongful death case recently concluded with a landmark settlement for $7.2 million, including a $1 million scholarship fund in Ms. Lane's name at Columbia University.

  • The Firm is currently representing the children and estate of a woman who was asphyxiated in a vault while working for the Depository Trust Company in lower Manhattan. The suit seeks compensation for her conscious pain and suffering, and for her children's loss of parental love, guidance, support, and future earnings and services.
